You know the drill. Just post words starting with A and going to Z that have something to do with Harry Potter. A good source for words is: www.hp-lexicon.org/ If you can, please also put a brief description of the person/place/thing/spell/whatever. Acromantula: A gigantic black spider (legspan may reach up to 15 feet) with a poisonous bite, the acromantula is an anomaly in the beast / being classification system. While capable of human speech, the acromantula is classified as a beast rather than a being due to its violent tendencies. It is native to Borneo (FB), where it is believed to have been a wizard-bred species, serving as an example of why the Ban on Experimental Breeding was put into effect. B is for...

James Potter: James Potter was born c.1960 of a Wizarding family. He inherited quite a fortune. James was probably the only son in that family. While at Hogwarts James made quite a name for himself. He was a brilliant student who became Head Boy in his last year. He was one of the the ringleaders of a group of mischievous students and was seldom seen without his best friend, Sirius Black, by his side. One of his accomplishments, although unknown to most people at the time, was to become an Animagus, quite a feat for an underage wizard. He did this because another of his dearest companions, Remus Lupin, was a werewolf. In animal form, all of the group of friends could join Lupin in adventures around the countryside once a month when he had transformed.

Narcissa Malfoy: Lucius' wife and Draco's mother; blonde, with a look on her face as if there were something smelly under her nose. Draco wanted to go to Durmstrang instead of Hogwarts, but Narcissa didn't want him going to school so far away from home. Narcissa is presumably the source of the sweets and cakes Draco has delivered to him daily from home while at Hogwarts.

Professor Phoebus Penrose: Professor Penrose headed a committee for the Ministry of Magic which produced a report entitled "A Study into Muggle Suspicions About Magic." Professor Penrose contends in that report that "Muggles are more observant than we might like to think." For example, entrants into the Annual International Wizard Gardening Competition's Contouring Cereals competition have been spotted by Muggles, who call them "crop circles." The report also discusses the fact that Muggles have spotted escaped Quaffles (calling them UFOs) as well as the ongoing problem of how to hide the Kelpie in Loch Ness.
