Post all your crazy theories here.
- One of the Weasley boys is killed.
- Trewlawny will make another profesy
- Petunia Dursley is actually a squib
Now, we all know about the Half Blood prince being the title. Who do you think this prince is? JK already said that it is neither Harry nor Voldemort. We can probebly assume that the prince is a male, but can we assume that they are not pure blooded? The prince could be a leader of the half-bloods but be pure-blooded himself.
We also know that Chamber of Secrets was originally called Half Blood Prince. Jo said that she "quite liked that title," though "the story bore no relation whatsoever to the title by the time I'd finished."
This suggests that the Half Blood Prince would be someone that was introduced, or played a more prominent role, in Chamber of Secrets. However, she may have decided to take this character out, hence why she ended up having to re-name it.
Dean Thomas: Jk put a lot of his background story on her website, could this be a sign? Personally, I don't think so, she also says that she sacrificed Dean's story for Neville's, and I doubt that she will change her mind.
Neville Longbottom: His role has been increasing, he's been getting more involved in the action of the stories. However, as far as I know he is pure-blooded, so perhaps he could be a leader of the half bloods.
Crookshanks: JKR said that Crookshanks being half kneazle would be important. Crookshanks is a boy, so the prince thing fits. Also, I don't think anyone specifically said that the prince had to be a wizard.
Dumbledore: We don't know much about DD's past, he could very well be half-blooded. We already know that he gets along with all kinds of people and creatures. If DD was the half blood prince, JK would be able to tell us all kinds of info about DD and his past.
Colin/Dennis Creevey: Basically the only reason it could be Colin is because he was introduced in CoS. I doubt that JK will let either of them hold such a powerful title.
Seamus Finnigan: He is a half blood, another interesting thing is that the Sorting Hat took almost a whole minute to decide his House, would JK have mentioned this if not important? Perhaps he is like Harry and the sorting hat wanted to put him into Slytherin?
Remus Lupin: Half-blood does not necessarily mean of muggle parentage, perhaps Remus is the Prince because he is part werewolf.
New character: This is probebly the most likely. In all of the other books we never really knew what the title was about. For 3, we knew what Azkaban was, but not who the prisoner was. For book 4 we had never heard of a goblet of fire, and for book five, we had heard of an 'old crowd' and a pheonix but no clues as to why they would be put together. I think that JK changed the title of book 2 because she decided not to introduce the prince yet.
If it's not a new character, I think it will be someone who we really don't know, someone who's name was just mentioned, like Sirius Black in the first one. One argument I've heard is that it won't be any of the 'main' characters because then their role would dramatically change. If say, Hagrid was the half blood prince, his relationship with the kids would be a whole lot different. Would JK really change a main character like that so late on in the series?
