ok, so there wasn't anything here so I hope it's ok if I post. If it's not then I'll delete it if I can.
So has anyone read the Silmarillion? I am reading it now and it's a bit confusing if I do say so. There are a lot of names to try and keep straight so the thing in the back kinda helps me with that.

I read it about a year ago. I thought it was an excellent story, and very emotionally powerful. It made me cry.

So it gets better then? I haven't had much time to read it so that may be why I'm a bit confuesed. And I'm still only on the third chapter. School work has been piling up on me since I started reading it. Funny how things work out isn't it. lol

Ok, I'm quoting the back of my book because for me to go in and explaine everything would take a while. lol.
"A number-one New York Times bestseller when it was originally published, The Silmarillion os the core of J.R.R. Tolkien's imaginative writing, a worl whose origins stretch back to a time long before The Hobbit.
Tolkien considered The Silmarillion his most important work, and, though it was published last and posthumously, this great collection of tales and legends clearly sets the stage for all his other writing. The story of the First Age, this is the ancient drama to which the characters in The Lord of the Rings look back and in whose events some of them, such as Elrond and Galadriel, took part. The three Silmarils were jewels created by Fëanor, most gifted of Elves. Within them was improsoned the Light of the Two Trees of Valinor befire the Trees themselves were destroyed by Morgoth, the first Dark Lord. Thereafter, the unsullied Light of Valinor lived on only in the Silmarils, but they werew seized by Morgoth and set in his crown, which was guarded in the impenetrable fortress of Angband in the north of Middle-earth. The Silmarillion is the history of the rebellion of Fëanor and his kindred against the gods, their exile from Valinor and return to Middle-earth, and theur war, hopless despite all their heroism, against the great Enemy.
The second edition features a letter written by J.R.R. Tolkien describing his intentions for the book, which serves as a brilliant exposition of his conception of the earlier Ages of Middle-earth."
In short, it was a great book which included several small stories, one of my favorites being Of Beren and Lúthien, one of the stories that made me cry.

Yeah, I don't remember there being any Hobbits in the Silm. I think that was because they were so apathetic toward the wars being fought by other peoples that they never entered into the story.

Nope, no hobbits, that I can remember at least. I kinda expected that there wouldn't though, seeing as, on the cover of my book anyway, it was all elves... lol
