My old school was well known as a center for ghostly activity, then again when your a couple of hundred years old, you might be too!
I was a bit of a sceptic, and was staying in the old dorms with some friends from the city, who knew very little about the school.
I decided to tell them the story of the black butler, the most famous ghost of the school. It was said that the butler had sold his land to the lady who built the castle, in return for a lifes job there, and a pension when he got too old to work.
Now Lady Londonderry, decided she was going to sell the castle, which bascially meant that all bets were off, the old man facing destitution, was said to run screaming from the old stables, which are now the dorms, to the tower, and throw himself from the top. Later Lady Vane didn't sell the castle, but kept it until her death as she had promised to do.
I told this story to an already kinda freaked out crowd and had arranged for another guy to run screaming down the stairs in a black robe. Which he did to great effect.
Later that night about 3/4 am, there was more screaming, this time it started in the dorms but wuickly moved outside, and I stuck my head out of my door, to say "oh ha ha very funny!" and the like!, only to discover everyone else doing exactly the same, thinking it was me and martin again!
The leader of the group got a bit worried and did a head count. No-one was missing, the whole group was acounted for!
We can only assume that the black butler was going for another ghostly run!
