The woman that stood across from him, was not a classic Egyptian beauty, her nose was broad and flat, and her mouth wide. Neither making her particularly beautiful, but when paired with the dark and graceful brow that hovered above the beautiful almond eyes, the colour of the infinite wells of Galalla, but this was one women he would not approach. Normally he would have made a lewd comment about her appearance, but not this woman. Her tall slime form was silhouetted against the fading light over the mother Nile, like the image of some ancient goddess. He stepped toward her and to the astonishment of the surrounding soldiers dropped to one knee before her. A faint murmuring broke out among the pickets, the women, Ingwe, stopped from her godlike height and lifted him to his feet, and embraced him as a brother. He fell back, his pride as a soldier was elevated by being embraced by someone of her standing, but his pride as man was repelled.
“My Lady Ingwe, conqueror of the Red Road, Priestess of the Red God. We welcome you here to the Garrison of Amarna. Bring forward those who wish to take the trial.” The captain barked.
“Thank you captain, the Red God will accept as his novices, any who take his trial and succeed, If you succeed your side lock will be dedicated to him on a great pyre at Karnack, but if you fail the punishment is dire! You gamble not only your side lock but also your life and even immortal soul. It is not a task to be undertaken lightly."
Ingwe stood looking down from the dais, mumering had broken out among the pickets gatherd around the platform, where were the other priests? She could not run the red road trials alone and she would need the others to invoke the red god on the ancient battlefields outside the city walls.

"My Queen!" A man said dressed in a long black holocaust cloak. " I am Nasar high preist from Memphis east of the great nile and north of El-Armarna. I am here because I received a vision from my god Iskur the weather god who told me to follow the winds of change to this place to help you in any way I can." As he bowed, he said " I am yours to command."

"Thank you my friend, may Ra smile upon you" she answered "The adepts will need much guidance in the coming weeks"
The sun was beginning to set bathing everthing in agolden light

He bowed and went to his quarters. Watching the sunset he smiled as the curtain of night embraced the earth. the coolness of the night air caressed his body as he took off his robe to rest for the night. "Tomarrow, I'll begin my teaching." He thought as he went to sleep.

Ingwe yawned as she applied the Kohl to her eye line, it was an unnessicery and fussy part of the preperations, but it was demanded by the god.
The sun beat down steadily and she could hear the clatter of dishes and pots as the students set about breakfast.
Strapping her sword to her side she made for the tent flap, it was certainly a beautiful moring and the perfect day to start.
She eyed the horses penned at the back of the incampment, some were very fine others less so and in her mind she began to pair them off, a swift but flinching white to a more stable and firey chestnut.
That would be the adepts first task to choose and break their own team of horses. She wondered hoe that would go, she had seen whole attempts fail because of the wrong selection of horse...

Opening his eyes, Nasar stretched as he rose from his bed and walked over to the window. Looking down he saw Ingwe walking over to the horses and beginning to pair them up. Suddenly, Nasar caught the terrible vision of Ingwe getting trampled to death by a stampede of horses scared by an invasion from Elkab south on the nile. With no time to loose, Nasar rushed down to her brushing past the guards and grabbing her as she let out a scream from being tackled. The guards sprang into action, picking up Nasar and beating him for his insilence of touching the queen. The head guard was about to slit his throat as Ingwe stopped him.
OOC: please don't be offended by me writing your actions of stopping the guard from killing Nasar, but I left it vauge and I hope you like where this is going. btw, cool banner!

ooc. Dito but Galuwen made it! ;D
"Wait!" she commanded as the gaurds prepared to kill Nasar, "Why did you..." she never finished the sentance.
The largest horse a massive black arabian with a white star plunged terrified, and with that the whole scene went straight to hell.
The gate fell with little resistance as the panicked horses fled from the paddock.
"What by Isis?" she cried as the stampede ran heaily over the ground she had just been standing on. She looked at Nasar and understood.

Taking Ingwe by the hand, Nasar said "Come, let's get you to saftey and I'll explain everything." Returning to the saftey of the temple was not an easy task. The invaders were everywhere and they seemed to be after the one person Nasar was trying to protect, Ingwe! Battling off several attackers, Nasar's fighting skills were definatley tested as he killed many opposers enroute to the temple gates. Pulling Ingwe in front of him to enter first, Nasar let out a scream in pain as an arrow peirced his left shoulder. "Save the queen!" He said as he fell to the ground.

Her rescuer could not be left to the savages! "Take him!" she yelled to her gaurds "bring him inside the temple!" the power of the Red God could save him.
The terrrified yells of the ill prepared villigers drowned out the murmering of the priests in the inner sanctum.
AS she stormed in they fell aside afraid of her wrath, she had his body laid upon a table and the preparations prepared for the ceremony.

Nasar was fading in and out of conciusness and he looked up and saw the face of the beautiful queen. She held his hand and said to her preists "Save him." Hearing that, he leaned up close enough to reach her ear, and whispered, "Death is only the beginning,my love." With that he fell back to the table and slipped into a coma.
Meanwhile the queen's warrior's were able to fend off the attackers capturing the leader. She kept him alive as to interrogate him. He was being held in the temple's dungeon when she had sent for him.

she heard the priests chanting at her back as she swept out. She made the sign with her left hand to ward of evil and prayer to Isis to save him.
The damage down was onlt cosmetic, they had been lucky few of their lay peole had been hurt, their livestock had not been so lucky, the bodies of many fine horses lay broken upon the ground.
She fought to control her anger as she returned to her tent, which by some miracle was still standing. Her eyes glittered with anger and controlled grief as the man was dragged into the tent. His hands were bound, he was weak and his head was bleeding. She felt no sympathy for him only her wrath tearing loose!
"Tell me all, and i MAY spare your life you insolent slave!" she shouted, her gaurds flinching, she was never this uncontrolled in her anger instreading being cold and aloof.

"Your highness," He started with his head down. "We were ordered too attack your kingdom by our highpreist,Hekau who was told to attack you in a vision by Astarte, the Asyrian goddes of war. She told him to attack you and kill you and the new priest. I have no idea why, I was just following orders." Groveling, he crawled over to her feet and said "Please have mercy."

he grabbed the hem of her cloak, she kicked him away. "You will not die" she said to him "YET! but should the priest Nasar die your life will be forfiet!" She returned to her seat, her gaurds pulling the frightened man to his feet.
This development was worrying, but not completely unexpected this camp was elite and all their lives valuable but its timing was strange, it was before the dedication in the temple.
The adepts would not have to forfeit their lives now, it didn't make any sense.
She surveyed the man. "Tell me of this priest, what is his role on whose authority was the attack launched, no mere priest has that much power!" she demanded her eyes flashing once again.

Looking solmonly at the floor as to not look upon her face again, he began to speak in a trembled voice. "Highness, he is a truley wicked man. He tourtures the poor by tossing their children in pits with wild animals for entertainment. He takes any woman he desires, married or not. He is feared by anyone in his wake." He started again "Lord Hekau is ruled completey by his goddess, Astarte. She has made him quite mad. I'm sorry that's all I know." Ingwe gave the signal to take him back to the dungeons, as her second priest came running in. "Your highness, Nasar is dead!"

She held her head high as she left the temple proper, He had saved her life, and would be buried like a king. As was their custom the life of the slave now belonged to Nasars family, but who were they? Nothing was known of the mysterious priest beofore he had come to the camp. It was late she would dwell on this in the morning, for know her grief was threatening to overwhelm her. She called the priets of the temple of Osiris to her. "He is to be buried with royal accord" she commanded of them. "His body is to be enshrind in the temple of horus, as his son directly beneath the wounded eye, as a gift for saving my life." she waved her hand and they left her. As she washed her face with the sweet smelling nile water brought to her, she thought of his strange arrival and this untimly end. She felt in her heart their was much eh could have helped her with. Sadly she went to her bed and lay for a long while in the dark just thinking Before the night and her grief made her drift off to sleep.
